After updating to Slac 11.0 RC2

Hi to all,

Yesterday I updatet my distro with latest packages. Then I merged the changes it all .new files in /etc/ - including rc.d and after reboot my keyboard and my mouse weren't detected. Kbd and mouse are connected to USB ports. In change log is written that hotplug is disabled because udev will handle all usb devices, but to me it seems there is some bug. I get back my old rc.M script with hotplug enabled and now all works fine.

My kernel is custom compiled 2.6.17.6 so udev has to work with no problems.

Is there anybody with similar problems?

If you use a 2.4.33 kernel, the hotplug must remain enabled. Udev is only for the 2.6 kernels.
So, keep "chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.hotplug"

But that's not it, he mentioned in first post that he is running 2.6.17.6 kernel ( custom compiled ). So my guess, either it's a bug (but not likely - I've just installed RC2 with kernel 2.6.16.27 myself and it works SMOOTH) or you've done a mistake somewhere when you custom configured/compiled your kernel. Better double check your /usr/src/linux/.config file.

One more thing, post the output of the command "df -ha", does it show something like this ?
Code:
usbfs 0 0 0 - /proc/bus/usb

Ok, guys, I'll check /proc/bus/usb
Also I'll check if my usbfs is compiled as kernel module or built-in kernel. Maybe It's better to be built in kernel?
Now I'm in the office and here is WinXP so when I come back home will check the things?

Meanwhile any other suggestions?
When hotplug is executed - rc.hotplug start I hear a bump when my sound card is detected. When rc.hotplug is not executed this bump is missing.

Sound card drivers are compiled as modules.

Hi guys again I fix my problem. Actually udev hasn't been upgraded and was ver. 0.75. Swared didn't upgrade it. I manually install udev 0.97 and now all is working well
