The former the last URL was mistakenly for xorg.config

I'd meant for it to be xorg.conf

http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&q=...nf&btnG=Search

So, there's for xorg.conf (lcd monitor xorg.conf)

But what use is a different xorg.conf if I don't have the correct drivers installed?

Ain't that what matters?

I can run X, I just can't get the different resolutions and such to work.

My knowlege is limited. But I think both matters.

xorg (X) may not but it may already included a driver that will work (unless someone else knows there's no workable driver already included).

My mga flies on the already included mga driver.

Why mga wouldn't show up for me using xorgconfig in Slack 12, but did show using xorgsetup, I don't know.

Didn't someone already tell you which driver to choose and how to do it using xorgconfig? Did you try what they said?

You should probably run xorgconfig BEFORE installing the nVidia drivers and making sure X loads properly. THEN install the latest nVidia drivers (choosing NOT to download precompiled kernel headers and choosing to update xorg.conf automatically). Then start X again and see if it works.

Even if X doesn't load properly before using the nVidia drivers you should still try to install them -- but it's better to have a working xorg.conf first (Note that if all you see is a blank screen try pressing "Ctrl"+"Alt"+"+" to use a standard resolution just to make sure your monitor/video card are working fine [note that you may have to scroll across your desktop...you'll see what I mean if it happens]. If you get this blank screen when X loads and pressing "Ctrl"+"Alt"+"+" fixes it it's an xorg.conf problem -- you've incorrectly set up your monitor's refresh rates and/or resolutions).
