9.1 and an ISA NIC

OK...

I am building a cluster at my highschool for a computer networking project. Now the computers i am using are old junk boxen (p133,48meg,2gigHDD) with ISA network cards...

The cards use the "ne" driver but I can not get slackware to pick them up...

An ISA bus PnP scan yelds nothing.

Any help?

Check /etc/rc.d/rc.modules and uncomment the line for the 'ne' module if it's not already. You may have to install isapnp tools in order to manually configure the card as 'ne' usually need the IRQ specified

For those cards you usually need the IRQ most likely...

# NE2000/NE1000 support (non PCI):
#/sbin/modprobe ne io=0x300 # NE2000 at 0x300
#/sbin/modprobe ne io=0x280 # NE2000 at 0x280
#/sbin/modprobe ne io=0x320 # NE2000 at 0x320
#/sbin/modprobe ne io=0x340 # NE2000 at 0x340
#/sbin/modprobe ne io=0x360 # NE2000 at 0x360

Find which works with your card... uncomment all or do it by trial and error that should do it.
