I have an old PC thats 32bit, kernel installed is generic and generic-smp
it runs using 5.14.2-smp.
do I still need generic-5.14 or can I remove it, so only generic-smp.5.14 remains?

Technically, the non-SMP kernel is needed for the very old boxes, with CPUs like AMD K6-II or Intel Pentium III, or alike.
That's why I believe that if your box runs on the SMP kernel, you can safely remove the other variant.
Actually the other thing to know is generic-smp has PAE enabled, and generic-nosmp does not. I don't think it hurts really anything to have an SMP kernel without SMP, but some people would rather not use PAE.

Come on! Even regarding PAE are myths around?
What's it? That Tutankhamen cursed that who plays with PAE will become blind?
