14.1(64) to current(64) upgrade caused mouse behavior change

Using blackbox on a current lenovo desktop clone. Using straight 14.1x64, a single mouse click would
switch focus cleanly from one window to the next.. Since upgrading to current64, about 2/3 of the time
the mouse click gets "lost" and I have to double click. Clicks get lost a little less when I click on the titlebar, and lost a lot when I click on the body of a window. Mostly I'm shuffling a lot of xterms.

Anyone else notice this? It's wreaking havoc with my coordination, timing, and finger muscle memory in vim & xterm.
On the graphical desktop it's just a minor annoyance.

I know blackbox has been cold & stale for a long time. Love it just the same. What changed? I've been over my blackboxrc file to make sure nothing weird got overwritten or set back to default after the upgrade..

I use click focus, not sloppy focus. Anyone else noticing odd behavior? An X11 rc thing? Last year I started with a bare metal install using 14.1 on this computer, so I doubt it's an old deprecated rc file
somewhere. I clean that stuff up anyways, but to remove all doubt, this was a clean bare metal 14.1 install about this time last year.

How did you upgrade? Did you install the new evdev x package?

funny too

raising/lowering windows among multiple windows
works properly and consistently, it's

just getting focus that is acting weird- flaky.

Windows raise, but won't always take focus

It's inconsistent.

didn't see

this one was kinda weird. I didn't see anything at Xorg that would govern this behavior, which is
why I throw it out here in a forum.

Now I read once upon a time that xorg.conf had been deprecated, 14.1 worked fine- like it had
for decades.

Sometimes I have had minor weirdnesses arise in other unrelated utilities when old conf files get overwritten upon upgrading, but if
xorg.conf has been deprecated, and it's not in the configurable options for mouse/evdev... I re-ran xorgsetup...

and blackbox hasn't changed in 9 years..

Then that narrows it down to...

little googling revealed

Other people are having trouble with mice, focus, and xorg 1.15 too..

Ubuntu (ugh) bugtracker, and a few others have the bug listed.

Can't say I've had any mouse problems, but focus seems broken here too.

This is something I've seen on kde current couple of days ago.
For example konsole, I start it from the menu and it will open in the background somehow.
On 14.1 it opens in front and I can start typing into it normally.
While in current, konsole window doesn't accept any input unless I click it into focus.
Another example is the dolphin confirmation window.
Expected behavior when I shift+del is that I can hit enter to confirm right?
In current, it doesn't accept enter and I need to click the confirmation window into focus before I can confirm.

Well, after some deliberation, I switched to fluxbox and the window focus issue is no more.
I was quite happy with blackbox, but I also understood quite well that it was only a
matter of time for a piece of software that hasn't had a new release or bugfix for what
is now coming up on 10 years.

Blackbox, it was a great run.. It'll always have a special place in my heart, but I also
need to come to terms with reality.. flux is better supported. Build date for the package
in x64 current is jan 24 2015. Hard to swim against the current. That bb managed for
this long is a testament to it's good design. Like I said, it's been a good 14 years, Blackbox..
You can't tell me that in 10 years there haven't been some
little changes that would break reverse compatibility with blackbox. I know. Sad, but
I know. A great old window manager passes off my desktop.

That said, flux is great. I remember when flux was in its infancy.. passed on it in favor
of blackbox. Didn't need the extra features I must say, very well thought out, well
laid out, well documented. I still don't use all the features, but at least something very
bb like is available and maintained.

Now all you KDE boys out there.. yeah.. that focus issue.. it's real. Not a linux n00b here..

There's something' broke somewhere...

I had used Blackbox for a while too... sad it never stayed active.
