[SOLVED] Wireless link not working with 2.6.33-rc3

Hi all,

I have installed kernel 2.6.33-rc3 on my Lenovo ThinkPad T61 laptop running Slackware64-13.

Code:
bash-3.1# lspci -k|grep -A 3 -i wireless

bash-3.1#
So far, so good.. But I can't get a connection through "/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 start" (I could with 2.6.32.2).

Nothing interesting in dmesg at startup but whenever I run the script I always get a timeout.

Any clue ?

[EDIT] I just noticed this in /var/log/messages:

I use
Code:
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 wlan0_start
but I don't know if this is the same. Is there an errormessage after executing the above command?

Looks like it is not related to the kernel itself.

Read Changelog

http://www.slackware.com/changelog/c...hp?cpu=x86_64:

Quote:
n/wireless-tools-29-x86_64-6.txz: Rebuilt.
In rc.wireless, look for /sys/class/net/$dev/wireless rather than at the
contents of /proc/net/wireless to determine if an interface is wireless.
In recent kernels, interfaces that are not active will not appear in
/proc/net/wireless. Thanks to Marin Glibic and Piter Punk.
So be sure that rc.wireles.new was installed correctly and check and recheck the scripts.

PS I have different hardware and I use wicd so I didn't experienced this myself. Just a guess.

Thanks a lot Dolphin77.

I upgraded to wireless-tools-29-x86_64-6.txz from -current though I be running -stable, and that did the trick
