Help me load slackware into lilo!

I've tried many things, but I cannot seem to load slackware onto the mandrake lilo which currently handles itself and windows xp.

Here's a copy of lilo.conf
boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
vga=791
default="windows"
keytable=/boot/us.klt
prompt
nowarn
timeout=30
message=/boot/message
menu-scheme=Wm
image=/boot/vmlinuz
label="linux"
root=/dev/hda5
hdd=ide-scsi
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append="quiet devfs=mount hdc=ide-scsi acpi=off"
vga=788
read-only
image=/dev/hda8
label="Slackware"
root=/dev/hda8
vga=791
read-write
image=/boot/vmlinuz
label="linux-nonfb"
root=/dev/hda5
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append="devfs=mount hdc=ide-scsi acpi=off"
read-only
other=/dev/hda2
label="windows"
table=/dev/hda
other=/dev/fd0
label="floppy"
unsafe
image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.21-0.13mdk
label="old_linux"
root=/dev/hda5
initrd=/boot/initrd-2.4.21-0.13mdk.img
append="quiet devfs=mount hdc=ide-scsi acpi=off"
vga=788
read-only
image=/boot/vmlinuz
label="failsafe"
root=/dev/hda5
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append="failsafe devfs=nomount hdc=ide-scsi acpi=off"
read-only

And here is a copy of fstab:
/dev/hda5 / ext3 defaults 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hda7 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
/dev/hda8 /mnt/hda8 reiserfs defaults 0 0
none /mnt/cdrom supermount dev=/dev/scd0,fs=auto,ro,--,user,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
none /mnt/dvd supermount dev=/dev/hdd,fs=auto,ro,--,user,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
none /mnt/floppy supermount dev=/dev/fd0,fs=auto,exec,--,rw,iocharset=iso8859-1,sync,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
/dev/hda2 /mnt/windows ntfs iocharset=iso8859-1,ro,umask=0 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hda6 swap swap defaults 0 0

What am I doing wrong? I've been trying to fix this for two days..

-Thanks

Well, I don't really see anything wrong with your file, what errors do you get when trying to select to boot to Slackware? More details please?

image=/dev/hda8
label="Slackware"
root=/dev/hda8
vga=791
read-write
image=/boot/vmlinuz

this won't do. When in mandrake, mount /dev/hda8 somewhere. E.g. create a directory /Slack and do
mount /dev/hda8 /Slack
then edit lilo.conf like this
image=/Slack/boot/{vmlinuz}
label="Slackware"
root=/dev/hda8
vga=791
read-write

you'll have to find out what the exact name of the kernel image is - look in that directory - and replace {vmlinuz} above with that.

then run lilo

I think quatsch has the right idea (once again) -- after you edited lilo.conf, did you run lilo, in order to have lilo recognize your changes? If not, run this command: /sbin/lilo
