FTP-0.17-35.el5


Ok I am trying to configure the ftp server. I have the ftp program that i installed from the rhel 5.5 disk an it is called FTP-0.17-35.el5. I have no idea what to do next to configure or setup the ftp server. can some one please help me out and point me in the right direction.

This is not the server, but the commnand line ftp client. RHEL comes with vsftpd

Please don't post the same Q in more that one forum

The package ftp-0.17-35.el5 provides only a ftp client. If you want to setup a ftp server, you have to install vsftpd (the ftp server shipped with RHEL). Take a look at the official documentation about configuring vsftp (or check the vsftp site for more).
