Your problem is that you've got a bad sector on your hard drive. You need to replace your drive.

What media did you use to do the install? The Live CD has problems if you don't use ext3 for the /boot partition. The DVD install disk has problems when encountering the partition part of the installer, there are some tricks on this thread on the Fedora Forums site which contained the errors I had:
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=223165
Other problems were addressed in this thread:
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=223206

This is a common problem with the installer, your bad sector errors I've seen in other threads. It's probably not your hard disk, search around, you might find the correct solution for you, depending on what your using for the installation media.

Hi Rajat,
Firstly, whenever you are posting the output of a command or contents of a file and if it has too many lines, please use 'code' tags.

Secondly, is it the palimpsest tool which is giving this error (in the notification area)? I too was (and most others are) getting the same error. It doesn't get solved by using fsck. None of the other distros show the same error. I just uninstalled gnome and installed xfce

Let us wait to see if it is a bug in the tool itself or our drives are really screwed. Let us see how long the drive serves us. Meanwhile, keep backing up the data, though...

If it's the Palimpsest utility throwing the error all you need to do is select System > Preferences > Startup Applications and un-check Disk Notifications. I'm fairly sure there are 1 or more bugs with Palimpsest. Palimpsest insisted that my drive was bad but Ubuntu, Vista and Windows 7 thought otherwise.

What's the point of the poll?
