Fedora 8: Internet connection is faster in "XP" than in "Fedora 8" why. Suggestions..

Hi All,

I have recently installed Fedora 8 (Werewolf)and it rocks, Yes quite a few problems i am facing:

1. My internet connection is slower when compared with XP (Any settings other than normal ones...).

2. Firefox browser fails to come up and says "It is not responding and restart the same to work correctly".

3. Everytime i restart my machine "Network device control" becomes inactive and need to make it active every time.

I would appreciate your help on these issues if you can share your knowledge.

We really need more information. Do you see anything in the output of "dmesg" related to your NIC (usually eth0 if there is only one)?

Is there any output in "/var/log/debug" related to the Firefox problem?

What is "Network device control"? If it is having problems, it should be logging something to one of the files in "/var/log".
