Can connect to the internet but not local network. OpenSuse11
I'm somewhat new to Linux but have been working IT as a DBA, Network analyst, and programmer for 15 years. I'm trying to setup a new file server on my home network with OpenSuse 11. I've been experimenting with OpenSuse 10 for the last 8 months.
When using DHCP I can see the linux server registering on my router so I know it is connecting to the router.
I can connect to the internet regardless of if I use a static IP or DHCP.
I have turned off the firewall on the linux.
I have turned on VNC
I cannot ping any of the other computers on my Lan from the linux box.
I can ping addresses in the WAN
The other windows and Linux PCs in the Lan cannot ping the linux server via IP address or name
No machine on the lan can connect to the VNC on the linux server either.
I configured everything the same as I have on my OpenSuse 10 box which has worked fine for months.
Is there something different in OpenSuse11 vs. OpenSuse10?
Thanks
