X11 problem w/ RH9 under VPC ..

I recently installed RH9 under MS VPC. When I boot up, I get a totally unreadable X11 login screen. How do I boot to a shell prompt so I can try to change the config file? Anyone have any idea why the configuration would be doing this?

Thank you.

Not sure why it would be doing this, and don't know much of anything about RH9 or MS-VPC.
However, assuming that the X11 login is using runlevel 4 as most linux's use, you could, at the boot prompt, add " init 1" or " init 3" after the kernel-name you are booting, so that the machine does not switch to graphical mode automatically.
From the resulting login prompt, login as root to edit the configuration.

Thanks for your reply. I figured it out. RH9 install defaults the display to 24-bit color; VPC can only handle 16-bit.

Well, now I can say I know *one* little thing about RH9 with VPC.
Glad you got it working.
