X11 problem w/ RH9 under VPC ..
I recently installed RH9 under MS VPC. When I boot up, I get a totally unreadable X11 login screen. How do I boot to a shell prompt so I can try to change the config file? Anyone have any idea why the configuration would be doing this?
Thank you. |
Not sure why it would be doing this, and don't know much of anything about RH9 or MS-VPC.
However, assuming that the X11 login is using runlevel 4 as most linux's use, you could, at the boot prompt, add " init 1" or " init 3" after the kernel-name you are booting, so that the machine does not switch to graphical mode automatically. From the resulting login prompt, login as root to edit the configuration. :) |
Thanks for your reply. I figured it out. RH9 install defaults the display to 24-bit color; VPC can only handle 16-bit.

Well, now I can say I know *one* little thing about RH9 with VPC. :)
Glad you got it working. |
