Red Hat: named daemon errors

Hi,
I was trying to configure a dns server, it didn't work after I started the service. I deleted my configuration out with the redhat-config-bind tool, then tryed to stop the service. Instead of the service stopping it says in the status:

number of zones: 4
debug level: 0
xfers running: 0
xfers deferred: 0
soa queries in progress: 0
query logging is OFF
server is up and running

Can anyone tell me what the probelm is (why it won't stop when I click the stop button)?

I am running redhat linux 9.

Thanks,
Derek

It's probably a good idea to use the command line to see what is going on.

To see the config file:

less /etc/named.conf

To stop the BIND service:

su -c '/sbin/service named stop'

Remember that once started a service will not check the config file again until you reload or restart it.
