Unhappy Realtek r8168 on Centos latest release

I'm having problems installing the internal realtek r8168
on the Centos system I've just Installed.
using a usb (that works fine) I have downloaded the drivers
(r1000_1.05.tgz) from the Realtek site and moved them on the machine, did everything according to the readme and,
except for a few warnings it installed, but, still, it doesn't work.

I tried using the: app. > System Settings > Network,
but couldn't find the R8168.

now, when I look in the Hardware Monitor, under network devices I CAN see that it is there:

Manufac.: Unknown
Driver : R1000
Device :/dev/eth0

what can I do?
thanx,
Gal

PS: loggod on as root

Then as root using the old school way, edit the /etc/modprobe.conf and add a line like(if need be): alias r1000 eth0

Then still as root create/edit the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file, sample dhcp type configuration below:

TYPE=Ethernet
DEVICE=eth0
HWADDR=
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
IPADDR=
NETMASK=
DOMAIN=
GATEWAY=
ONBOOT=yes
USERCTL=yes
IPV6INIT=no
PEERDNS=no

Then restart the service: service network restart

.
