Hi Nagesh,

It'd be a little more helpful if you could let us know as to what you'd done just before getting into the problem you've specified. For example, any alterations in configuration files, etc.

Also, what is the hardware on which you're running RedHat 9.0?

Hi Mufy,
I am using P-III (700 MHz)/Intel 810 hardware PC.I had configured nothing for kernel parameter. It was just normal RH9 installation with minimal package and adding gcc, gcc++,nasm extra to it.
After the installtion it worked for some days and suddenly this problem started to come.If I do complete harddisk formating/partitioning still its not working. This is second time I am facing this problem. After several intstalltion it worked for some days last time.
I am confused if some hardware problem is there ... which hardware I should try for ??? cuz its giving me no hint on that !!
Mufy is there any way to debug and check where exactly problem is ??
and thanks for your reply.

Hello there once again Nagesh,

Those of us who have become a part of LQ have a certain level of unconditional commitment to the community. As we too have experienced and are experiencing one difficulty or the other. In those times, we look forward to the fraternity to chip in and help us. In short, it's our pleasure to respond and be of some assistance.

Nagesh, I'd suggest that you try replacing your RAM module. It is one among the few possibilities I have come across in my few years trouble-shooting Linux boxes.

Do come back with that result and let's see what can be done.

Thanks Mufy, thanks a lot.
I chnaged my CMOS bat.(which had got dead several days before) and now linux is working fine
The idea struck to my mind when I saw the next thing kernel do after configuring its parameter, it was clock.
Mufy , I think you are more touch with the forum so please if possible convey this to those who suffer with this problem because I dont want anybody waste his time on this problem as it took me around 2 weeks to resolve.
sorry for anything wrong in my words,
Regards,

Nagesh.

Well Nagesh...

You're most welcome. Glad to know that you finally solved it on your own.

As discussions remain in the forum, there is no further need to carry this any further. People will find it one way or the other.

The other reason being that, it is only during searches for solutions to one's problems do one learn more.

Hoping that LQ will come to your aid in future as you sure are likely to run into problems.

Aren't we all :-)?...
