kernel 2.6.9-5 compile error on RedHat ES 4
Just installed RedHat ES 4, and system wouldnt boot using default SMP kernel, so I decided to recompile the 2.6.9-5smp kernel. After doing a make bzImage i get the following error:
[root@host linux]# make bzImage
CHK include/linux/version.h
SPLIT include/linux/autoconf.h -> include/config/*
CHK include/asm-i386/asm_offsets.h

make: *** [init] Error 2
I have also tried a normal make, re-installting sources, and removing my .config file to get a fresh config (also ran make clean) and still the same exact error. Anyone have any ideas since I cant tell what direction this error leads in? Thanks
