How to get timing information for a thread

On Linux, how can I retrieve timing information for a thread (creation time, exit time, kernel time, user time). I have checked the proc file system and pthread library functions but I found nothing.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Try the top command.

Thanks for your suggestion. The top command provides information about processes and CPU usage. But I want library functions (or mechanism) to get timing information about a thread in my C program, something just like GetThreadTimes() function on Windows platform.

I have done a lot of searches from search engines but no solutions found.

Do you have any idea?

Thanks and regards,

Luu Vo.
