Compact Flash Issue
I have Xeon bases motherboard with Comapact flash, with 64MB flash card. I want to access the falsh card, but no sucess yet.
When I boot the system , the BIOS detects it as an IDE drive (CKS 64MB) (HDD-0). I have Hard disk with redhat installed, when I boot the system using HDD-1, I can see that the Flash is recognised as /dev/hda, but when I try to acces it (even fdisk /dev/hda) I get error
Unable to open /dev/hda
and logs an error in /var/log/messages as:
Mar 24 15:53:41 Pawan kernel: ide-floppy driver 0.99.newide
Mar 24 15:53:41 Pawan modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module ide-disk
Mar 24 15:53:41 Pawan kernel: ide-floppy driver 0.99.newide
Mar 24 15:53:41 Pawan modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module ide-disk
now, I tried lsmod and it does not show ide-disk module, and a little research confirmed me that rehat 9 doen't come with ide-disk module prebuild. I tried to compile the kernel, with ide-disk option but failed to buid a working module.
Now, my question is:
Am I on right track? ie. I need ide-disk module in my system, if yes, what is the easiest way to get it and test (like a simple download)
or I am doing something wrong, Any suggestion please?
Thanks
