cannot mount ext3


when i start my rehdat linux
i saw such infomation
EXT2-fs warning (device ide0(3,7)): ext2_read_super: mounting ext3 filesystem as ext2

VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) readonly.

my fs is ext3
and my fstab is
/dev/hda7 / ext3 defaults 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
/dev/hda8 swap swap defaults 0 0

Could be that your kernel does not support ext3... You can recompile your kernel to add support, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. ext3 and ext2 are virtually identical; you just won't get the added benefits of journaling (which makes recovery a little easier if you have a power outage, or for some reason your disks aren't unmounted properly).

my kernel support ext3.
after i install a debian linux,my redhat donot work
so i change my fstab
/dev/hda7 / ext3 defaults 1 1
original it is
LABEL/ / ext3 defaults 1 1
