Let me tell u the full scenario ...I hav a Linux Box in which i hav Win98 as my active partition and Linux in my extended partition.I installed Linux in my box with the IDE as Primary slave.So i hav WIndows in hdb1 and Linux in hdb2 which means /boot is hdb5 and / is hdb6 and /swap is hdb7.
Now after finishing my installation i was able to enter my Linux box using a boot disk as i had installed LiLo in First boot record.
But after installation i recognised that my IDE was in primary slave and so wanted to convert it back to primary master.I did the same and when i boot into Linux using the boot disk i get this following message and the kernel panics...
