automount windows folder in redhat entreprise 5


Hi,

i do the first time a redhat entreprise 5 installation.

In the older version, i mount windows folder in fstab with smbfs.
No smbfs in this version.

How to automount windows folder.

Do you mean that you want to mount a windows network share? smbfs is depreciated. Use cifs instead.

if i use cifs, what about the fstab paramters.

With smbfs a wrote:

//iphost/volshare /mnt/spool smbfs administrateur%,guid=556,gid=50 0 0



i try with cifs:

iphost:/volshare /mnt/spool cifs administrateur%,guid=556,gid=50 0 0


it run but i have on dmesg:

CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -5

There is a mount.cifs manpage. Your first option is missing "user=", which in cifs has the equivalent "username=". Also, you may have a typo for the username, and you are missing the password entry. Using a credentials file is a better idea because then the password entry isn't available to all users.

To resolve my pb, i write in fstab:

//iphost/volshare /mnt/spool cifs user=administrateur%,guid=556,gid=50 0 0


it's runnig fine
