Hi i do a bit of 3D programming in linux myself, I use SDL with OpenGL.

You can get SDL from www.libsdl.org and OpenGL from www.mesa3d.org.
Theres not alot of information on SDL around but the SDL site has good documentation.

for info on OpenGL programming go to
nehe.gamedev.net
www.gametutorials.com

also check out the opengl forum at www.opengl.org

for general 3d programming stuff have a look at www.gamedev.net and www.flipcode.net
