php session

I have upgraded a working system from suse 9.0. to 9.1.

This installed apache2 by default and started the error undefined function session_start()

What could have caused this and how do I correct php.ini contains references to sessions still

To answer my own question none of the modules were being loaded ( when I checked using 'php -m'). The only thing left is an error that mail() is an undefined method! I can't figure that - can anyone help with suggestions. It was fine before.

Now undefined function mail()

The only problem now is mail() fails despite working before so I am amending subject line. To try and get a reply

Why would it now generate undefined function mail()?
