Unhappy php display mysql result in pages


hello i need a script that will display the reslt of a mysql query in different pages like so for my games website wikid-games.net/games_type.php?i=sports so that theres a page like games_type.php?i=sports&page=2 etc.
using a if else like
PHP Code:
<?php
if (isset($_GET['page'])) {
// whatever to display the page
}else{
// display the first 8 results
}
and links at the bottem like 1 2 3 4 5 etc.
i have attempted this enough times and i cant get it to work.
any help apreasiated.
