PHP: Best way to preserve session data when leaving a domain?

Are cookies the best way of saving session data when you leave a domain? I have a site I'm working on for a client that submits data to another site (which is on a different domain) and then returns them to a confirmation page. I want to save all this data, but only temporarily, so I'd like to scrap using MySQL for this and see if there is a better way. Are cookies the way to go? This would present a problem if the user has cookies disabled, though, so I was wondering if there were any other methods I could use.
