Perl > connecting to databases

I'm in a local machine that needs to fetch info from our testserver database, but after trying out the tutorial: (using postgres)

http://manual.intl.indoglobal.com/pgsql_connect.html

it gave me a "Can't locate DBI.pm in @INC.... " error.

I did a little searching and found out that I need DBI and the postgres driver. I tried working the commands 'ppm' and 'perl -MCPAN -e 'install DBI'', no go....
ppm command not found. And the second command times out trying to connect... =(

is there any other way to connect to the postgres db from the testserver w/o using DBI??

whoa, it finally connected... (perl -MCPAN -e 'install DBI') but still gave me an error

Quote:
Failed 10/38 test scripts, 73.68% okay. 0/947 subtests failed, 100.00% okay.
make: *** [test_dynamic] Error 29
/usr/bin/make test -- NOT OK
Running make install
make test had returned bad status, won't install without force

Try to compile DBI from source, this usually works better for perl modules that CPAN.

For the last few hours I was somehow able to install DBI and DBD::Pg, one of the tarballs & rpm's I've downloaded must've done it. Thanks for the reply
