databases


can anyone explain me the difference between OPEN SOURCE DATABASES and COMMERCIAL DATABASES............and also whether Ingres is which type......thanx

what do you mean, "differences"?? in the categories you have defined, you can't really say any more than the first half are OS, the others are not.... they will all have their own quirks and deviations from the standards, like SQL92

The only thing I'd add is that 'usually', fully capable OS DBs can be downloaded/obtained for free, whereas commercial ones only offer limited time/capability versions for free.
Ingres is commercial (or was last time I checked)
