need help with interfaces in C using glib-object?

My first question is howto get GtkEditable of a GtkEntry (GtkEntry implements the interface GtkEditable)? The second is what are, how to cast and how to make interfaces in C? I know what interfaces are in Java has it the same meaning? How does the type system of GTK or glib-object work, I mean where has the *_get_type function gone? Is there somewhere a good documentation or could someone answer to these questions, please?

There are plenty tutorials available online, for instance
http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk-tutorial/stable/
http://www.gtk.org/documentation.html
