Mesa GL dev files and NVidia hardware, will it use it?

If I install the Mesa GL development packages will my GL progs I build with it use the NVidia hardware and the NVidia driver? Or will it use it's own code path to access the hardware?

Well from some reading of the documents it seems it may not as I'm using the NVidia drivers and not the Mesa NVidia drivers. But that is all academic as I can only find the GL version 1 headers after installing packages. I would have expected that the development files would have been shipped with the drivers just as they are in the mobile device sphere.

Bit more routing about on the net, well it's a lazy Sunday so why not.
