Question ldap: distinguishing a branch from a leave

How can I know if a node is a branch node or a leave node?

I'm working on php, by the way.

Are you talking about data structures?

Branch or leaf?
As in a tree data structure?

Branching instructions? SPARC or x86...

Since you specified php it can't be instruction calls. Maybe I'm missing something.

Can you rephrase or clarify?

Yes.. a tree. I mean, when i retrieve a node from an ldap directory, how can I tell if it's a leaf or a branch? is it possible, anyway? (maybe the problem is that you haven't noticed my question is about ldap.... look in the subject ;-)).

Even ldap-entries of the commonName (cn) type can have child-entries. So I suppose there's no real difference between entries with respect to being leaf or container.

You can, of course, detect if there are any child-entries for a given object. That should do the trick, and is quite easy.
