Html help -- tracking downloads

Part of the problem is that its been so long since Ive dealt with html exclusively (without php or perl for the fancy stuff) that I dont know what I can do with just html or maybe javascript.

I have a site up at http://w3.gwis.com/~m0rl0ck/fluxthemes/index.html where I've posted some fluxbox themes I created. I'd like to track downloads but all I have to track any thing is a cgi hit counter provided by my isp, everyone who wants one, gets one and only one, so I cant put up a counter for each file.

What Ive done is do a download redirect and put the counter on the download page. This will only tell me that someone hit the download page, not which file was downloaded.

My isp's server doesnt do php and cgi's running in users home directories are forbidden.
Any way to track individual file downloads using just html and javascript?

Thanks.

Hey, maybe this was a stupid question. I just do a <form> with a mailto: action and have a page for each file correct? Any way to write to the local disk on the server?

Not without some server-side language. Can you use another host?

Remember you don't have to switch your whole site just for this.. you can have part of your site residing on the php etc compatible server...

(shsh!)
