Howto create popup notifications like on the pic


Hi

I was looking long but could not find how to create those silly popups like on the pic. Pls help me! Sombody help... mash potato and graaaaavy

It's in EWMH's specification.

Could you please be a little bit more specific? I know now that it is in the docs but I still don't know how it is called or what I am looking for.

Its in something called notification area... Its been quite long since I've got into EWMH... So I might be a bit off...

If you need popups for your network status, than you need KNemo. This tool is a network monitoring tool, it provides a lot of useful info about your network, like IP address, HW address, sent/received bytes/packets, speed, uptime, etc. It has a traffic plotter too.

You seem to be referring to the tooltip-type popup in the top right. Creating those will depend on the envirinment you are using and/or the toolkit used by the program. Most toolkits provide this capability.

I am using Gnome and GTK2 for that. Well PyGTK but I am guessing that most things are ported to it.
