Question GNAT GPL: GPS doesn't keep settings

I noticed that GPS (the IDE for GNAT GPL edition) often doesn't keep its settings under Windows. I installed it on linux and I'm seeing the same problem.

Has anybody seen this, and figured out how to fix it? Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

Before doing anything, you have to go to File->Change directory and set up a working directory in some writeable area. You would think that GPS would be smart enough to do this automagically like every other app in the world, or at least pop up a dialog like GIMP. But no. Once you do this, it will preserve your settings.

Now I would like to know why it can't launch mozilla to browse html doc pages. Any guesses?
