Event device nodes and Xorg

Hello programmers! I need your help. When i create a new event device (/dev/input/event) it is automatically grabbed by Xorg:
Code:
(II) config/udev: Adding input device Keypad Emulation Driver (/dev/input/event7)
(**) Keypad Emulation Driver: Applying InputClass "evdev keyboard catchall"
(**) Keypad Emulation Driver: always reports core events
(**) Keypad Emulation Driver: Device: "/dev/input/event7"
(II) Keypad Emulation Driver: Found keys
(II) Keypad Emulation Driver: Configuring as keyboard
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "Keypad Emulation Driver" (type: KEYBOARD)
How can I ungrub it in Ubuntu 10.04? Next commands don't work any more:
Code:
# Ungrabbing keypad driver from Xorg
KEYPAD_HAL=$(hal-find-by-property --key info.product --string "Keypad Emulation Driver")
if [ ! -z ${KEYPAD_HAL} ]
then
	echo ""
echo "Ungrabbing the keypad driver from Xorg..."
	hal-device -r ${KEYPAD_HAL}
fi

Is this a new problem?

What changed just before it started?

Is it unique to Ubu' 10.04?
