Smile Error running a C program, glibc detected *** free(): invalid next size (normal)

I have an old c program and it is working on Redhat 7.2 and Debian I tried to run it on my ubuntu machine but I got the following error
glibc detected *** free(): invalid next size (normal)
I tried to recompile the source on the ubuntu machine but I got the same error
How I can fix it?
Thank you

alternatively, you can test-drive my malloc/free overload library.

check out: http://aconole.brad-x.com/programs for some info. It'll let you see exactly where free's, and mallocs are being called, what address is being free'd, print a stack trace, AND even has some "safe" routines to catch overflow/underflow conditions.

This is probably cause its using a newer compiler or a newer version of Glibc and a warning is now considered an error.

Ive had similar issues in the past and it can be difficult to track down.

As suggested before posing the code would help

just remember your [ code ] tags
