OpenOffice.org *** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x41481c94 ***

Upgraded slackware 10.0 to 10.1 causing openoffice to fail with a glibc error similar to:
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x41481c94 ***
Upgraded OOo to attempt to fix this, here are the results:
Code:
elanne@lupus:~$ /usr/local/OpenOffice.org/program/soffice
javaldx: could not create link of name: /usr/local/OpenOffice.org/program/../user/temp/java/a which links to /usr/lib/java/jre/bin,
 symlink error:  -1
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x41481c94 ***
Aborted
# exits
When run as root, works fine, no errors. As a user, the above.

Any ideas?

Check your xorg.conf and your udev permissions. For details start here:

Good luck!
