Creating a GUI without QI, Glade, etc

Is is possible to create a nice-looking interface without using a GUI? If so, how, and how easy? Linkage? Thx!

You can use ncurses. It is a console based interface. However, without using GUI tools, you cannot create nice interfaces without a lot of hard work and then you'll be reinventing the wheel! .

When you say "without using a GUI" do you mean "without using a GUI builder" to build your windows..

The fact that your title askes how to guild a GUI, I expect you want to have a gui for the end result but to hand buid the visual elements?

I love doing all the coding myself... not relying on some GUI builder to make me a fancy interface.

Oh, that brings me to my next point - can one edit the GUI of an existing application given the source code? like, by loading it up in a GUI builder (though I don't like them)...? (assume they don't send you a .qt or the such file.. just source code for the interface)

Fisrt, I can't do this, but I believe here must are many people can do this. However, most people don't like it, because of a couple of works must to be done.
