anyone tried gnome glade for building GUI FORMS?


I Want to get the value of the text box that user input as a string
and use it to enter in the database through c and mysql programming
problem is the value is the pointer to *GdkWidget and i want it to be
a string to handle

could anyone provide me nice examples and tutorials related to glade
