Brief-like editor (GPL/Freeware) ???

Does anyone know of a good X-based editor with BRIEF keymappings.

I don't want something I have to pay for (tight budget), so Crisp is out of the question. And I'd like to avoid Xemacs, which is a bit cumbersome.

I've spent hours searching the net and haven't found anything. Again, I'm looking for any editor that meets following specs:

* X Windows based
* Freeware
* Not emacs

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thx...

I posted this late last night and when I woke up this morning saw that it had unintentionally been posted in this Forum and not in the Software forum.

Unable to delete this post, I decided the best action was to just repost in the Software forum.

If you look at the timestamps on the posts, you'll notice this.

Sorry for any inconvenience. It was unintentional.

You know man, I can't do anything about it. Wish I could. If I could... I would have removed this thread, but I can't...
