GPL/Freeware BRIEF editor???

Hi, I'm looking for a good Unix programming editor with BRIEF keymappings. These are my specs:

* Freeware
* X Windows based
* NOT Xemacs or clone

Crisp is nice, but I'm on a tight budget. Same goes for Epsilon and SlickEdit. I don't have $200 to spend.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
