when i shutdown mepis at the end of the shutdown, it stops responding showing stoping hda. then after pressing the power switch makes system turn off. it does not show any error.
hello. please be more precise with your statements. do you mean that automatic power off upon shutdown is not working? are you using an atx power supply?
my pc works fine in windows and ubuntu. problem is that when i press shutdown, shutdown process starts but at the end shows "[some no]halting hda" and then stops responding. then after i have to press the power shitch to turn off the pc.
i have the same problem with my AMD Athlon 2900 processor and cheapo SIS motherboard. When I choose "Shutdown" in my KDE, it just halts the drives and things but the machine is on still. I too have to manually hold my power button down for five seconds in order to fully shut my machine down. I haev no idea how to fix this.
when you say shutdown, do you mean shutdown the entire system or just x? perhaps you're missing a power manager. please post the output of the following:
