Shutdown Problem

Hi, I'm running redhat 9 and I have encountered a strange problem. Whenever I try to shutdown my machine it hangs..right after the command killall? The error message is as follows; INIT:no more processes left in this runlevel.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?
Any help will be greatly appreciated

What command are you using to shut down the box? Go to a command prompt (or get an xterm open if you are in the GUI) and as root type this:

#shutdown -h now

Report on what happens.
