no KDE headers installed

Hi, I have played around with difrent distros of linux for quite some time now and someone directed me to Simply mepis. Sofar i love it. However, for some reason i cannot compile anything. i always get this error message

checking for KDE... configure: error:
in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers installed. This will fail.
So, check this please and use another prefix!

I am not used to Debian maybe, i have used Drake, Slackware, and Fedora. And have never had this problem before. If someone could help me out that would be awesome.

Try to install kde headers from testing:

apt-get install -t testing libfam-dev
apt-get install -t testing kde-devel

I'm not sure if that would work though, there are many changes added to Debian pool lately, that's why you cannot install them from "unstable", right now there's a mix of 3.4.2 and 3.3 packages on unstable. You might have better luck with "testing".

Other than that have patience and don't do blanket upgrades till the instability in Debian pool is solved (the KDE 3.4.2 transition, C++ ABI, etc)
