Error whilst intalling 'libgtk2.0-dev', 'Broken Pipe'?!
I downloaded libgtk2.0-dev.deb from the Debian website, and when I came to install it on SimplyMEPIS 3.3.1, KPackage said:
Code:
dpkg -i '//root/libgtk2.0-dev_2.6.4-3_i386.deb' ;echo RESULT=$?
(Reading database ... 80368 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking libgtk2.0-dev (from .../libgtk2.0-dev_2.6.4-3_i386.deb) ...
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
dpkg: error processing //root/libgtk2.0-dev_2.6.4-3_i386.deb (--install):
short read in buffer_copy (backend dpkg-deb during `./usr/lib/libgdk-x11-2.0.a')
Errors were encountered while processing:
//root/libgtk2.0-dev_2.6.4-3_i386.deb
RESULT=1
Help!

It seems like you dont quite undestand how to use apt, you dont need to download things from websites, you use apt.
first enable the debian Sources then do apt-get update
next do apt-get install libgtk2.0-dev, or search for it in kpackage or in synaptic and install it.

I cant do that because I can't get online, and I can't get online because I dont have that package! (I have one of those daft Alcatel modems) So... I'm in a bit of bother here.
