View Poll Results: Which edition of Mandriva Linux do you use?
I was just curious as to which edition of Mandriva the people here use. I bought the PowerPack, mainly because I don't mind proprietary drivers and its a big headache to install certain drivers myself (for me, at least). Which do you use?
mandriva 210 one on my machines one a home server I set it up in 2008 so it still has 2008 on it one day I might reinstall it to 2010 but its workin so why bother.
I brought the power pack once I don't know what extra I got I may buy again (the download version ) to make a donation to mandriva .
I was just looking through my puter I seam to have quite a few plf packages installed so after a basic install all I ever do is install and go to easy urpmi and add there repository's. On my favourite puter the 1, I use the most mandriva 2010 has been on it since January I don't need to format that often probably because I've learnt a little Linux (not much) but I install packages all the time and don't seam to create too many issues and would go to any stupid site where nasty s may lurk and don't catch anything as far as I'm a where I've no Trojan problems am I an idiot to say I laugh at viruses there are none that can hurt Linux .
Im a KDE person proberlly why i dont like ubuntu
Mandriva 2010 on my home system lappy has mandriva 2010,windows 7 and what ever else i want to see what it looks like.

I use Mandriva Linux 2010.0 as my production O.S. Microsoft Windows 7 is installed on the same computer because I take Online classes here in North West Ohio (Owens Community College), and most U.S. educational institutions are not yet advanced enough to support Linux. I got Windows 7 at no cost from the MSDN-Academy WEB site because I took a qualifying class (my major is Computer Science). I also have Mandriva Linux 2010.1 (Summer) installed in VirtualBox for testing purposes.
From time to time I install other Linux distributions in VirtualBox just to see whats available, but Mandriva is the best distribution for me. I have used it since fall 1998 (then Mandrake Linux), and it has been my production O.S. of choice since about January 2000. Between 1998 and 2000 I dual-booted Mandriva (Mandrake) with Windows 98 S.E. The most important thing I have learned is that all Linux distributions are developed from the same code base (making them similar) even though each distribution is unique. Mandriva's Control Center (which includes DrakX Tools) and the organization of the distribution are the things that make it the best one for me. MCC makes day to day system management easy without making it too hard to get at the command line when I want the power that can be found there.
I eagerly look forward to this July 5th. when Mandriva Linux 2010.1 (Summer) final is scheduled to be released.
Edit: 11, July 2010
Mandriva 2010.1 (Spring)(Summer) final has been released, so I now use that as my production OS of choice. END Edit

Reason: Mandriva 2010.1 (Spring) final released - new information
I've used Free and One...but since my main system died, I'm currently using the community edition, MUD with LXDE by default. It works nicely with my low spec machine.
There is a lot more to dislike about Ubuntu that the fact that the primary distribution (Ubuntu) does not include KDE, but this thread is about which Mandriva version responders are using, not which distribution they use.

I started with Mandrake 8.1 to learn linux and have run each new edition since and I have tried other distributions but always went back to Mandrake now Mandriva and I am currently running Mandriva 2010.1 spring/summer edition and I will probably never change because Mandriva is outstanding for multimedia use. I work with video a lot and use Kdenlive and I am very happy with Mandriva's media programs.

I started with Mandrake 7.1 (ah the good old days when most things had to be done manually!) out of curiosity. I've been a mandy user ever since. I do run other distros, but mandy is my personal weapon of choice.
Thanks for buying the Powerpack! That makes you one of the extra special good guys, . Supporting MDV like all these fine folks here do is great but supporting with cash too, if one has it, is fantastic.
Where's "cooker", Enterprise and Flash? ...& why is there no option "all of the above" or something similar like " a couple of those"?
I run cooker(mostly in VMware Player these days) and use all but Flash depending on the requirements. ( I just have not had time to try using the Flash - I have DSL somewhere around here on a 128MB USB stick which suffices for mobility. )
Powerpack is provided to me so I use it primarily, as someone said, "as weapon of choice" to, among other things, relieve the windoz caused stomach aches. However, the only proprietary packages used regularly are Adobe flash and nvidia drivers but CAD packages have been used too. [ I hate flash but Gnash just cannot do the job good enough yet and way too many websites have changed to using flash video(ima newshound ...). ] ...
Anyway, can the poll be modified? ...and thanks for asking!

I started with Mandrake 6.1, then 7.0 but neither would run for my P2BDS system. The 7.1 was really the first that ran good & I liked. It got me hooked on Linux. I have been supporting them ever since(except during that ugly gcc issue for the 8 series).

i only added those three because I thought the flash mandriva was just one of these on a flash drive, and I was mainly asking to desktop users so didn't add the server versions. I'd modify the poll if I could, but it doesn't look like I can.
