Download it, install it and share with the rest of us what it is!

Sounds to me like it would be a stripped down version of Mandrake that fits on one cd, etc.

It's a smaller download, meant to get a system up running quickly and connected to the internet.

Once the machine is up further installation can take place via the net.

In other words, you download one smaller CD, install it and you are up and running but missing features and software. However once it's running you can add all the missing packages from the internet or another local source.

It's great if you have the CD's sitting on an NFS share and want to set up multiple computers.

I've used the mini-CD to install 10.1 onto a laptop, and it worked quite nicely. As has been said before, it gives you a basic Mandrake install, leaving you to add stuff through your Net connection. You can also, after install, use urpmi to install further packages using your Net connection. Worked a charm.

Yes i think it is smaller version of linux but for mini cd (you know those mini cd's the new sony PSP is going to have). I also think that if you have a mini-cd burner you'll be able to burn it to mini cd and put the OS on your PSP.

Unfortunately that is not even remtely correct.

The mini-distro is as I stated in my post.

The PSP is unable to boot standard disks as it utilizes Sony's proprietary UMD format.

Furthermore a PSP compatible distro would have to be specifically created for the Sony PSP processor and architecture.

I thought that the processer was similar to the Sun Microsystems chip which can run linux. If u can run linux on a Sun Microsystem and then you sould be able to run it on a PSP...

just to note: your probaly right, but even if you cant install it now on the PSP eventually you will be able to...

No.

The Linux "Mini" distro is specifically for i86 processors.

The Sun Micro is a different beast altogether.

That's only a portion of the battle though, as the PSP uses a proprietary format for which Sony refuses to release ANY compatible writer, as a means to protect themselves.

So don't expect to be booting Linux on the PSP from the CD anytime soon.

A micro USB/Memory stick port is far more likely and useful... ala puppy linux.
