Unhappy urpmi.


i am new to linux.i have mandrake linux.i want to know what is urpmi.and i don't have urpmi in my system.how can i install urpmi..any one help me..

hi there

uromi is usd to install packages with much ease, it takes care of all dependencies and the location of ur packages

for installing urpmi lookout for its rpm in ur cd
copy that rpm to ur linux partion and install that rpm by
rpm -vih urpmi.......

to install a package say k3b through urpmi
run

urpmi k3b

and it will guide u

You have urpmi. Change to root to use it. If your system has sources set up already, they will be listed in a file in /etc/urpmi/

To update the lists 'urpmi.update -a'

To install a_program 'urpmi a_program'

It does pattern matching, so you can do things like 'urpmi firefox' and it will either install it or tell you the options. It does dep. checking too.

There you will find the commands to update your sources the was you want.
