it would probably work, but I wouldn't suggest it. There are apparently several packages on 9.2 that were "re-engineered" (many KDE packges were split into smaller packages). I've seen complaints from a great deal of users who have reported problems (esp. w/ KDE) caused by upgrading instead of a clean install.
Personally, I never upgrade. I always backup configurations and /home and install fresh. This is what I suggest you do.
