Sound Problem with Mandriva 2006

I am using Athlon 64 bit motherboard with built in sound card.My sound system worked perfectly and still works ok when playing sound from the mic and line inputs. Also it plays all sound files with Amorak.
My problem is when using Audacity it will not record from the line or mic inputs and also will not record these inputs from other sound applications.
This worked ok when Mandriva was first installed.

Thanks for any help.

Audacity problem

I'm having trouble with Audacity too. I get this message when starting it:

Code:
There was an error initializing the audio i/o layer.
You will not be able to play or record audio.

Error: Host error.

Go into Kmix and look at some of the advanced switches. You will see some to the effect of "mic in for center/sub out" and "line-in for L/R surround out" or something to that effect. You need to turn those off in order to be able to record audio. That little issue drove me nuts until I found the switches in Kmix.

Hope this helps.
